Thanks Daryl. His name was Bob (Robert) Groesbeck and from Springville too. They will bury him here Monday. He died on my sisters birthday, the 23rd. Strange but it was a gift. And he'd want his family to celebrate, not mourn.

Attending funerals isn't my favorite activity but it's one I give golf up for. God bless at your familys weekend.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes, and the first jump Daryl.  What doesn't show is Dave and Daryl hanging on to the seats of the plane as the assistant trys to push them out.

Dave is walking along a Florida beach when he comes across a lamp partially buried in the sand. He picks up the lamp and gives it a rub. A genie appears and tells him he has been granted one wish.

Dave thinks for a moment and says, "I want to live forever."

"Sorry," said the genie, "I'm not allowed to grant eternal life."

"OK, then, I want to die after the Democrats balance the budget and eliminate the debt.

"You crafty little turd!" said the genie.

Hope everyone is having a great week.  DS

Wow, I just got back from bicycling on what is called the Hiawatha Trail.  It is located near the top of Lookout Pass off of I-90, as it goes into Idaho.

Here is a little bit of information on the trail.  "It was called one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the country.  When the Milwaukee Railroad was operating, the trains traversed through 11 tunnels and over 9 high trestles.  The "Route of the Hiawatha" is the most famous for the long St Paul Pass, or Taft Tunnel which burrows for 8771 feet. (1.66 miles) under the Bitterroot Mountains at the state line.  The trail from the Taft Tunnel to Pearson is a very gentle ride on an unpaved gravel road.  The grade is 1.7% downhill, a drop of about 1000 ft. in a distance of 13 miles.

That is the nice thing about this Trail, it is all downhill.  We took our Boy Scout troop on this ride.  We are working on our Cycling merit badge.  We saw approx. 300 people on bicycles, ranging in ages from 5 yrs. old to at least 78.  It is a great family ride.  If you get to the bottom and do not want to bicycle back you can ride the bus back to your car.  If you are in the area, and want a great experience, this is the place. The first tunnel you go though is 1.7 miles long.  You need a good light on your bicycle or helmet.

Here are some pictures of us on the trail:

Here we are getting ready for the ride

We are heading into the 1.7 mile tunnel:  very dark as we get into the tunnel:

I am on one of the many trestles we cross, and you can see another one in the background:

Just a note, my assistant Scoutmaster thought he had a good light on his bicycle as he went into one of the tunnels, but he could not see very well and ended up crashing.  Well, he forgot to take off his sunglasses.  A great laugh.

I hope you guys don't mind the pictures.  I think they are worth a thousand words.

Chuck,

Lars and I just camped under that bridge about a month agao. It is a little over an hour from our house. We actually walked up to the trail when we were camping, we didn't know you had to pay, have a helmet and no dogs. The trail police caught us and so the  6 of us and my dog hiked back down an elk trail to our camp.It is a long ways down, It was a blast!

Beautiful area!!! This is where I live..........................

Anyone who comes to the area give me a buzz!!

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently,I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and
charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that

seniors over age 55 ...get 10% off everything on the menu, every day. (But you

need to ASK for your discount.)

Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ...ask for the discount too.
This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of

offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually

surprised to see how many there are and howsome of them start at the young

age of 50 .
This list may not only be useful for you, but for your friends and family too.

Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to people over 55 .
If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it for FREE.

Thursday, August 22, 2013.  Lets do Lunch 1130 anybodies choice of location who wants to attend.  How about it?   Maybe we could attend one of the places Dave listed that would give us a great discount since we are all over 50?

The theme song for next years reunion!!

We have our Magic Bus, think of more songs to be played from it and decorations for 2014 Art City Parade.

Daryl Tucker

There's a Village Inn on South University in Provo.  Close to the freeway for Dennis. We could verify the 10% discount for us well-seasoned types.

Nice bus, Dave.

I found Steve Lynn's mothers car, a falcon resting in a tree.

Dave,    What are you going to do with the new bus.

08/20/13 04:27 PM #2350

David Lynn

This bus is our float for the class of 69. I'll cut the top off or take the windows out, according to the class wishes, put big speakers in and blast our music out as we throw candy at babies. If anybody can think of songs (like Magic Bus), they want, we'll play them. Debbie and Larry will have to judge that because they won the music contest a couple of years ago. Paint whatever we want on it. Maybe we could make a fund raiser for a charity, we'll consult with Blair and Cindy. Any other ideas are welcome.

Villiage Inn-thursday 11:30 (Eastbay)?

Wish I could help. I did this for the Rat Rod in May, it was soo fun, I love painting weird letters on metal.

You guys will have a blast I'm sure!

I'm planning on being at the Village Inn tomorrow.  I hope I don't have to eat alone!

Linda,

I understand the problem of painting the bus from long distance, but how about sending us some designs and we can do our best to reproduce them.  I've taken a lot of artwork and projected it on theater flats where it can be traced and then painted. What do you say?

08/21/13 06:31 PM #2353

Dennis Sorensen

I will be there for lunch at 1130.  Hope more than just Daryl, Dave and I come.

I am sorry but I have to cancel coming to lunch, they canceled my meeting up north so I will not be coming north today.

Sorry.  DS

08/22/13 12:44 PM #2355

Linda Schardine

Hey that sounds fun Daryl, you'll have to let me know what words you want and I can send some ideas......

Debbie and I are still wanting to come..... When and where?

08/22/13 02:44 PM #2356

Daryl Tucker

Linda,

We haven't had any meetings, yet, to make permanent plans, but Dave, who is really in charge, has suggested Riverside Country Club for the dinner. It will probably be on the Saturday night of Art City Days (the bus will be in the parade in the morning) which will be June 14th next year.

The bus is the real deal. We won't be doing a permanent paint job on it, so if Dave ever wanted to sell it, it can be put back into school bus shape. We're thinking maybe we'll make kind of a collage project out of it with drawings and some of your cool lettering on paper stock we can tape all over the sides of the bus. That way, maybe we could have you create some of it up there in St. Marie's and mail it down. We can collect some money for materials for you. So, what do you think?

08/22/13 03:10 PM #2357

Linda Schardine

That sounds great!!! you could also use poster paints, they can be washed off.

No sending money though, this will be a fun donation.......

I will keep in touch with what I am doing so you will know what's being made. I love being a part of it, looks like a bus I would have done in my hippie days for sure!

Love it!

08/22/13 08:08 PM #2358

Steven Lynn

I always wondered what happened to Theda's Falcon, Thanks Dave.  You paint the bus in 60's psychedelic colors and have everyone dress as hippies, you can skip the pot smoking unless your living in Washington or Colorado....

08/23/13 10:44 AM #2359

David Lynn

Everyone that thinks I'm crazy for buying a bus, but they all have an idea of what to do with it. Let's keep collecting them (ideas).

An empty dog leash dragging.

All the names of classmates.

Peace signs.

Stop the war on the Stop sign.

Devil Horns on top.

Speakers with our music.

A mannequin in a rocking chair on top.

Ken, trolling for fish off the back.

Car emblems, especially ones of cars we had back then.

Collage of school activities.

Collage of careers.

Bucket lists, hobbies.

Ski rack, bike rack, luggage rack.

Jet packs, wings, spoked hub caps (out of golf clubs).

08/23/13 12:34 PM #2360

Linda Schardine

I think it's a fabulous idea!! Funner than fun!!

Debbie and I will make some things and send ~ to ad to it.
