Carma Braithwaite Brown Dewey

1951 ~ 2014

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt returned home to our Heavenly Father and her family whom she has missed so much.

Carma Braithwaite Brown Dewey was born on September 24, 1951 in Provo, Utah to Clyde and Ione Braithwaite. She was the youngest sister of four girls and had two younger brothers. Carma married David C. Brown on September 5, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. They settled in Salem, Utah where they raised their three beautiful, fun children. She later married Lewis Dewey on January 27, 2005.

Carma enjoyed visiting with her parents, family, and friends. She enjoyed taking her grandkids on Days out with Grandma. She loved her dogs, Dusty and Sammy, and loved all dogs. She enjoyed trips to Lake Powell, cruises, and going to BYU football games, home and away. She just loved being with her family.

Carma is survived by her three children, Thad Brown, Amy (Shane) Bott, and Ryan (Kelly) Brown, her three sisters, Sandra, Brenda, and Marsha, two brothers, Randy and Kevin, 13 grandchildren, Nichole, Ryan, Braxten, Shelbie, Tyson, Nash, Natasha, Dereck, Vanessa, Swazie, Hunter, Jovie, and Sadie, and one great grandson, Ashden, who thinks His Grandma Carma is still Awesome, her husband Lewis, her two dogs, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, granddaughter, Garamie, in-laws, Clayton and Berniece Brown, two brothers-in-law, Sandy and Donald, and nephew, Jared.

Our Mom will be greatly missed, but we are very thankful she no longer has to struggle with the pains and confusion she suffered from daily because of Alzheimers. We love you Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at the Salem 7th Ward, 25 W. Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church prior to services from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Interment will be at the Salem City Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.walkerobits.com

Makes me so sad Ken. Alzheimer's is so cruel.

Shauna Bona (Leetham)

Wow that is so sad. her death hits you hard because that is such a terrible disease. I quess I can't handle thinking that we are old enough to have Azlheimers. It sounds like she had a wonderful family. Maybe the 69er's are having a fun reunion in heaven!  OK, how many are you are planning on coming to our reunion????

Marvin Dansie

It is sad to hear of the passing of a fellow classmate. Carma did not deserve to make that cruel and difficult journey - no one does - but we don’t get to choose. Life treats each of us differently - its not fair, but that’s life.

It is amazing how fast it all goes by.

Shauna - I am planning to go to the reunion, and I hope all of the rest our classmates are as well.

Linda - my heart bleeds for Lars. I wish there was something I could do to help.

You make me feel so dumb. Nicely said Marvin. My mother-in-law had Alzheimers' for 15 years, we saw all sides of it. We really had to laugh, love and live with it as many others do now. Hope they find a cure soon. It was good when people died easy, it's not anymore.

When I said "dang" I meant, D eath A lways N eeds G reiving.

Time to start finding people who will come to the reunion, time is short for that too. We are a great class and need to appreciate what time we have left together. I ran into Laurie Bringhurst (Thorn) in St. George, that a was fun suprise.

Charles (Chuck) Gividen

Hi Marvin,

I have also given some thought to the question you asked.  I think that the answer lies in that we are forgetting who we really are; and there seems to be more and more people who are thinking only of themselves and their own self interests.  "Things" really do not make people happy.  Their so-called happiness is superficial.  They have forgotten that it is better to loose themselves in the service of others.  I think that people need to get back to the basics of what life is all about.  I think you know what I mean.

Well, that is my take on this.

Shauna Bona (Leetham)

I think that it is time for another meeting! We need to get more people out to get involved, Maybe the few of us could call 5 people and get them having fun with us. Then they can get 5 more! then that might be all of us! Just kidding! Could we find old uniforms of who played sports, does anyone in the accapella have threir dresses, letterman jackets, someone has to have our gym suits we had to wear!! Formal's we would have to have our kids wear them, I still have wiglets to get our hair nice and high!  get your thinking caps on so we can shake the town up again!  Larry you have good ideas, get in on this!

Happy Birthday, Dave! Still rockin' it after all these years!

Shauna Bona (Leetham)

Happy late birthday Dave, I'm just a few days off!! If anyone is out there, just write at least one word on here so we know who is reading this!! We lost another one of our teachers. Mrs. Killpack, of course I never had her because that would mean I would have had to learn to sew! I did get to know her, doing her hair a few times. She was 92 and the sweetest lady ever. Sad to see all of our teachers going!

Thanks Keith, nice to know your out there!

David Lynn

Shauna, I guess it's like in the song Pink Floyd sings, "is there anybody out there?"

Summer is here, where are you all going for vacation? I was going to England but it was on the parade day, so I'm going to Springville. I hope some others are too. The class of 64 said they are on a Harward hay wagon. We are going to have so much more fun.

I'll be in Missouri next week, but we need to get the invites out and find out who is coming to the reunion.

How's everything Linda? We are so looking forward to you and Debbie coming down.

Are you coming Chuck? Eric? Keith? UTawna, Mart etc.................

04/05/14 09:55 AM #2599

Blair Packard

Yes, others are out here lurking and reading. Cindy and I are planning to attend the reunion but would love to have some prelimanary dates, times, location of events. We wouldn't miss the chance to ride in David's school bus. Is the back seat reserved yet? devil (I assume it is ok to use a "devil" smiley face since we are devils, of course.)

Linda Schardine

Debbie and I are still planning on coming. But for me it will depend on how my husband is doing, he's not out of the woods by any means. He's on chemo every 2 weeks for 2 days. He also had to do a 10 day radiation on his head, he had 4 tiny tumors in his brain.

This is probley the hardest thing I ever done watching the love of my life suffer. I am trying my hardest to take good care of myself, I go to zumba 3 times a week (when possible), we also have some awesome friends who help us out alot, bring food (I hate to cook), chop wood for the stove and cheer us up all the time.

There is always hope and thats where it is now. I don't get up to my shop as much so I don't get on the computer, but I do try and keep up with things.

I will keep you posted, thanks Daryl!

Laurie Bringhurst (Thorn)

I'm planning on comming for sure, when i saw David Lynn he told me about the school bus, that sounds so fun!  Oh by the way David its Laurie Bringhurst Thorn not killpack yourthinking of my cousin Terri that married Steve killpack.  Any way I'm excited for this reunion and to see everyone!  So sad about Carma passing away and with Alzhiemers!  its an awful disease, my mom had it and i wouldn't wish that on anyone!

04/07/14 09:21 AM #2602

David Lynn

It was good you joined us Blair, and of course you can sit in the back. That's where the wheelchairs and dancers will be. Bring some African art ideas and Cindy to put on the bus.

Laurie, I wasn't confused who you were, just you husband. When I looked in the profiles I took the wrong name, I'm sure glad I could fix that error easier than other mistakes I've made in life.  For you others who don't know, I was buying my toy bus when Laurie came up behind me. We are so glad you are coming.

Linda, I'm not Daryl,or Davis but we love you and you can call me anything you want but "your still gonna have to serve somebody. It may be the Devil or it may be the Lord........." (Bob Dylan) and we are all pulling for Lars and you.

Blair and other new viewers (keep on talking so Daryl and I don 't just talk to each other, we can do that on the phone) Look at post 2455 for bus seats and 2449 for the schedule. A formal invite will soon be in the mail.

Now is the time for all good Devils to get 2 friends to get 2 friends etc., and get the reunion to be a reunion.

Oh, I saw your brother on TV Barbara Robins (Clarke). I think you'd better come do some art work on the bus too.
