Gary your wrong. Its good that you have been thinking - it does a body good.

And No, you don't have to spell everything right. Its the ideas and communication that are the important parts.

Besides, I think we all still speak Country Boy.

Hey boys were going to invade Canada sometime in the future for their fresh water. So while we're up there we could just build the refinery. Two birds with one stone or should I say drone. Oh, I think the invasion should happen around 2050.

Well said Marvin; and you are doing alright Gary.  It is good to hear from you.  Don't worry about your spelling.  Heck, none of us are perfect.  If we were we would be lying about ourselves.  I think it is good to hear each others different opinions, and also show respect for them as well.  Hey Dennis, if water flows downhill, are we then getting Canada's water?.....  It is great to hear from everybody.  Hey Daryl, that ground-source heat is really great.  My daughter and her husband have a 5,500 sq. ft house and that is all they use to heat and cool it.  It could be -10 degrees or 100 degrees above 0, and it is comfy.

Gary, there are no rules about grammar or spelling on this forum. The First Amendment is definitely in charge here. A forum is a place for sharing ideas and they all should be respected. We each have our own style for expressing ourselves. I know I've been a little wordy, here at times, but I think a good discussion is a valuable way of deciding what's right and wrong in the world. I hope you'll accept me for the way I am.

Denny, you bring up an excellent subject with water. Isn't it amazing that the world's surface is more than two-thirds covered by water, but we're quickly running out of clean water to drink? Not just here in the west, but in many parts of the world. Another subject we could throw out for discussion.

Chuck, not only is it possible to heat  and cool individual homes with in-ground heat exchanging systems, but if we were to take advantage of some of the thermal well projects in places like Nevada, we could produce enough electricity to take care of the entire country - all without adding any polution to the air. Of course there are hot springs and sources of  underground thermal capacity scattered all over the country if we wanted to develop its potential.

We don't have to limit ourselves to fossil fuels, but that industry is now so large and influential, it sometimes seems like we have no other choice.

Gary,

I'm not really good at drawing people......funny thought

Daryl,

I just saw a cool documentary on bottled water and the devastating effects on health and ocean. Just to make the bottles the towns that live around the plants are suffering from cancer and lots of health issues and now cannot sell their houses.

Pepsi, Coke and Nestles are going into small towns and drilling their water and then selling it back to the towns and also ruining some of their lake.

The plastic bottles also leach out harmful chemicals. The tap water is regulated way better than the bottled water, they self regulate theirselves and then report to the FDA. There is also is section of the ocean that is getting worse every year from small chunks of plastic bottles, they call it plastic soup. It's killing the fish and plaintun.

I am now taking a stand and not using plastic waters bottles anymore................My water here is so good and clean, what was I thinking?

I just put my plastic water bottle out of sight! Sorry! I'll do better!

Maybe I overstated myself on the way we talk here, I meant no harm.  So Daryl, it's all cool.  I may not talk so masterfully, but I can read it and even understand it.   Maybe I'm not alone here but seems I can read a word, and damn one minute later I can't spell that same word.

Linda on the plastic bottles OK you got my attention.

Daryl,  it seems that when we have the resources, ie. thermal heat, and that it can be used to produce a lot of energy, it always costs way too much.  I often wonder why.  It seems that there are those who will charge as much as they can to get the big bucks.  I know that some projects require advanced technologies that may be in their infancy, but there are those energy resources that are in place which are cost prohibitive.  Go figure.  Ground source heat is the way to go, but again it is extremely expensive, when it should not be so.  Oh well.

Linda,

You should Google "Ocean Garbage Patch Pictures".  That is pretty disturbing.

Linda Schardine

Yeah, it's bad!!

01/30/13 01:24 PM #2121

Daryl Tucker

Chuck, we just need to remember the "Golden Rule." He with the gold, makes the rules. The cost of alternative energy options will always be more expensive as long as the big oil and natural gas companies, big power companies and their minions in Washington DC control energy prices. We, the consumers, will just be pawns in the whole scheme.

Regular gas prices here along the Wasatch Front have never gone above $4.00 a gallon, but I'll be willing to bet that we'll be above that mark sometime this summer. It will roll back again later in the year and then next year we'll see another high, and so on and so on. It's all about economics and the big boys won't allow their profits to fall off.  Maybe if the little guys can become more efficient with their technology and methods, they can eventually be more competitive, but I'm pretty cynical about the big guys letting them play.

Okay, here's today's assignment:

What solutions could there be for cleaning up that big garbage patch of plastic floating out in the Pacific? Let's hear it!

(Glad to see you back on here, Dave!)

01/30/13 01:40 PM #2122

Gary Averett

Daryl,  you got that right.  However any little guy comes up with a workable solution,  the big boys will buy, him out, or force him out.

And the plastic bottles, burn them.  Just kidding,  Or maybe find a way to turn them into fuel, after all they are a byproduct of oil.

I'v been watching "Are you smarter than a fifth grader" as of late, trying to learn stuff.  And it's working.

01/30/13 01:53 PM #2123

Daryl Tucker

Nice going, Gary! I should tune in myself. They say that continuing to learn things is one of the best things we can do to keep sharp mentally as we age.

Wait a minute! Did I just imply we are getting old?  Sorry! I didn't mean that!

01/30/13 03:27 PM #2124

Linda Schardine

I'm afraid to watch it, my boys were marter than me when they were in 3rd grade and now their in the late 30's.

Gary, maybe I'll take a peek....

The interesting thing about learning something new is that it makes you aware of how much you don't know ;-)

Marv that's pretty Zen. I like that.

Hey Daryl,

Maybe your getting old.. Not me, I think, but then again maybe I don't  remember.  Man I hate it when that happens.

Gary Averett

Ok you guys.

I realize some may not want to hear this,  but I would like to know.  Gun control,  and the NRA.  I am not a member of the NRA,  but I'm looking.  Has anyone seen any ads. looking for new members.  If I were a member, maybe contribute to the NRA would it help the fight for the 2nd.  Maybe the proponets for gun ownership need a place to come together,  combine our resourses.   Oh crap did I just raise a red flag.  So be it.....Gary....

Will be out this weekend shooting the 30 round magazine in the AR-15 and M4.  American Freedom is great.  But it does come at a cost.  Please thank those who defend this great country everyday and who have done so in the past.  You never know when you will be called upon to up hold the Constitution.  Be prepared.
