Great shot, Denny!

I hope you boys had a great day, yesterday. I know there's one former Massachusetts governor that had kind of a rough one. Life goes on...

It is Thansgiving morning and I just got back from playing a couple hours of racquetball with about a half dozen other guys.

I was talking to one of the guys after the games when we were headed to the locker room, he goes by Tom but his real name is Mafoosta. He is a dentist that came from Iran about 20 years ago. I asked if he and his family celebrated Thanksgiving with the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner. His response was a bit surprising.

He told me "Yes" they do, and they invite quite a number of friends to join them. He said it was his favorite holiday and it was the best reason in the world to have a holiday. It is a day to be thankful and to give thanks for all that we have - to celebrate the good things in life and to share those with others - to encourage one another to strive to make life better for themselves and others in the coming year. I could tell it was a heartfelt response as the tears welled up in his eyes. I don't know the path that he has traveled, but I do know that he will be giving thanks today for what many of us take for granted.

It is easy to become a bit jaded dealing with all hassles and inconveniences of our everyday lives, but we all have those things in our lives that we truely cherish and are thankful for - and today is a day to reflect on those.

I hope you all have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey Marvin,

Thank you for sharing your story about your Iranian friend.  I could really feel the love that he has for his family, his friends, and for this country.  You are right, sometimes we take too much for granted.  We need to step back and look at the good that we have in our life, irregardless of the trials that we sometimes have to face.

Great pictures Dennis.  You should be a photographer.  Oh wait a minute, you are a photographer.  You have a good eye for taking exciting pictures.  You should enter them into the county fair.

Well Denny looks like you have a new profession.  Your pictures are amazing! i'm thankful that you share all the beauty of Utah with us!! sorry all you guys that live out of State, but Utah has it all. I'm thankful for such a great place to live. But  the thing that I am most thankful for is my bed. I feel so sorry for the homeless people who don't have the simple things in life, like heat. How lucky we all were to have each other to hang out with in school and to still be able to call all of you friends! Hope you all had a good holiday and now here we go into the big one. Has anyone done there shopping yet? Well i haven't even started. You can't walk through my house because i have Christmas strung all over. Enough rambling, I'm having one of those A.D.D. moments!!! Night!

Ditto to all the comments about being thankful for the little things we often take for granted. Thanks to Denny for sharing his talent with a camera lens - just one more talent in a long list.

And I want to add my good wishes for Kate on her birthday! Happy Holidays, Everyone!!!

I hope no one gets a Christmas sweater like this one, but if you do....wear it proudly!

So being so intelligent after a day of working in the yard with the grandkids we broke out some Mountain Dew.   My granddaughter ask me where Mountain Dew comes from.   Being so smart I told her it comes from horses.  She looked at me and said pee?    I nodded my head yes thinking she would not want anymore again.   A few weeks later at school and Thanksgiving time the teacher at school told all the kids to say what they were thankful for.   My granddaughter spoke up and said she was thankful for horses because they give us Mountain Dew.   Boy did I catch it.

I just want to say how sorry I am for two of our class mates who have lost loved ones this week so close in the Holiday.    Brenda Whiting for the loss of her daughter or daughter in law and Robert Stokes for the loss of a grandson.   It is always hard to loose someone and this time of year makes it much worse.   May God bless them in their needs at this time.

Daryl Tucker

I'm so sorry to hear about the losses. I went to the viewing of a friend's 28 year-old son last week. It seems so tragic when we lose loved ones at young ages. My heart goes out to all those who are mourning.

Hey Shauna, I am no longer permitted to wear tight sweaters. They get all stretched out in the wrong places. I ate at Gloria's not long ago, but for lunch, so no Keith Lewis. The food was good, so I could go with the idea. Are we all too busy before Christmas?
