Mart, that is the terribly sad truth and a big part of the problem with today's world.  Everybody wants something for nothing!  Folks want that perfect job ... high pay, low hours, high available time off, low need to function on a high level.  I see it in my grandkids and their friends.  It makes me really sad ... maybe even angry!

I need some outdoor wood stairs repaired and a couple of holes where wood and alluminum has fallen off.  Not a whole lot.  Our main priorty is the stairs.  They are easy fixes.  We could do it ourselves if we wanted to make the trip up there.  We may have to. Thanks for the info.  I will call Scott.

This is how we train for Spartan races in Montana...LOL...I could not help but post this...it is quite hillarious.  There is an incentive here to get down that trail in a hurry....

Just read this about Chuck Gividen

This was my dad and sister yesterday at Lake Tahoe, doing the Ultra Beast Spartan Race...15 miles of obstacles, elevation from 6-10,000 feet. It took my dad 8 hours to finish! Killed it! He's a very healthy 65 year old...been doing these Spartans for a couple years now, and has enjoyed every one of them!!! Come to find out, the Spartan Race saved his life!
I got a call last night from my sister at 9 pm. An hour after finishing the race, my dad was in the hotel room and had suffered a very major heart attack! Paramedics took him to the Reno, Nevada hospital. Had 100% blockage of the major artery that feeds 60% of his heart. He was in critical condition. They got him stabilized and is in the heart ICU. This was a huge shock! He's in the best shape of his life! The nurse at the hospital said they get lots of heart attack patients because of the elevation. So what happened was the elevation affected him, but also because of hereditary genes, he has lots of plaque in his arteries. Some of the plaque got lose and blocked arteries. So healthy, but hereditarily, not healthy! The doctor said if he was on the mountain when this happened, he would be gone. If you think about it, this was a blessing in disguise! Without the Spartan Race, elevation change...we would have never known about the plaque that he had! Now we do and can move forward. Right now they are doing tests to see how much damage was done to his heart. He will be in the hospital for a few days. He's in good spirits. Hates being in the hospital! In fact, this is funny...I wouldn't be surprised if he set up an obstacle course in the hallway for a "hospital Spartan race" for the patients there!!!😂. He's tempted he said!
Dear friends, family...🙏I believe in prayers! I've been the recipient of many myself, and have seen miracles! I know God lives, hears and answers prayers! I'm asking for a prayer from you right now please! A prayer on behalf of my dad, Chuck Gividen! Thank you so much!!!❤️

Charles (Chuck) Gividen

Well everyone, I am back.  As you have now heard, I was at Lake Tahoe participating in the World Championship Spartan Race.  I raced in what was called the “Beast”….15 miles with 37 obstacles to conquer.  The race started at 6,000 feet, and went on up to 10,000 feet, and all points in between.  I finished the race, received my medal, and then went back to our room.  While taking a shower I started feeling some pain in my chest.  It kept getting worse and worse.  911 was called, and they rushed me to the Regional Medical Center in Reno….45 miles away.  It was a very fast trip.  They started working on me right off the bat, and got me stabilized.  I was told that I had suffered a “widow maker” heart attack.  Sixty percent of my heart was not getting blood.  If I had arrived 10 minutes later I would not be here today.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers sent my way during this unexpected ordeal I have just experienced.  This heart attack was totally unexpected.  And yes, I am very healthy…I was eating right, working out a lot, and I had a healthy heart.  However, I have now found out that due to my genes, as inherited from my ancestors, I am prone to developing plack in my blood vessels.  I had no clue.  Also, the doctors said that they get quite a few very healthy athletes, young and old who are having heart attacks, because of the high altitude at Lake Tahoe 10,000 feet.  The Doctors said that this could have happened to me years ago if I had not been taking care of myself like I have been.  The Doctors also said that this heart attack was going to happen no matter what.  Now, here is the part that really humbles me and re-affirms my belief in God….I could have had this heart attack while on the mountain, while I was training by hiking up the many trails into the mountains behind our house…alone, or it could have happened while I worked out in our basement…again, alone.  But it did not happen that way.  It happened after the race at a place where there were a lot of people…the ambulance arrived within 5 minutes…we got to the hospital very rapidly, and I was treated at the Regional Medical Center, where there is a top notch cardio wing.  This all happened, not by accident or coincidence, but by design.  I firmly believe that God has more for me to do on this earth…I love Him and am grateful for his love.

I am so thankful for friends like all of you.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers in my behalf.  I felt their strength.  You are part of my family.  You have blessed me in so many ways.

Now, I imagine I have a long road ahead of me as I go through this healing process.  I am really excited about this.  It will be a challenge, but I am looking forward to this challenge.

Oh, before I finish, I might mention that my daughter, who also raced, told me that she had the results of how I placed in the race in my age bracket.  Well, of course I wanted to know.  She said that I took 1st place.  Wow, that was cool…and then I asked her how many raced the “Beast” in my age group.  She said, “4”.  It made me laugh…there were 9,000 racers total that raced that particular day.  Love you guys……

I am very relieved to hear you're on the road to recovery, Chuck! I'm sure you were being watched from above and that the good Lord just wanted to send you a reminder that there is still work for you to accomplish in this life. I got to know your great parents quite well before they passed and know just how suddenly people can be taken from this world. I'm glad you're still with us and want you to know your Class of 69 family will always be here for you!

Chuck..I am so happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery and that the many prayers in your behalf have been answered!  What divine intervention to be in the right place at the right time ....truly the Lord knows when it is time for each of us.  I am grateful that His kind Nd tender mercies have been with you and your family.

Thanks for sharing your amazing journey and inspiring story.  You have given me a boast to try harder to keep myself in better physical condition...it's so easy any more to say I'm too tired to exercise today, my leg hurts or my back hurts...or it won't hurt if I treat myself to this extra cookie today.  But our health and strength is extremely important ao we can enjoy these wonderful golden years!  Take care of yourself and I am praying for your full recovery so you can go back to doing the things you love to do!  So grateful that your time here has been extended and you can enjoy your family for many more years ahead!  I know that our Heavenly Father has a great work for you to continue to do.yessmileyyes

It's great to read all of the support, unity and love that has been extended from our class of 69...today make someone's day brighter by letting them know that you care!  I do love and appreciate each of you who share your thoughts ...missing all those who have been called home and counting my blessings for each day!

Chuck, I am so glad to hear of your recovery and the testimony you have shared with us. When I had my heartattack I was in Oregon working. My wife was told that I had died. By the time she arrived at the airport, they had brought me back. That is another story. I wish to share this with you, that you can get better and live a long life. I have had five stents, and 18 angio, so far. When my son was taken at such a youg age I thought, why him and not me. I too know that we are here for a porpose. What it is,      I have no idea. Good luck Chuck and live every day as the good person that you are.

Jill, although I wished you a happy birthday yesterday on Facebook, I still wanted to put up a picture of you here on the Forum. You sent me this one to go with the others we used at Denny's memorial and it was one of my favorites.  I cropped it to show just the two of you today. Love you both!

On a quick note, I been following Springville High football the last two years. It has been fun watching no 52, my grandson. Also been fun visiting with Shauna, and Lee Taylor and others that help with the booster group. Springville has not lost a game this year and so far has walked through the playoffs in great manor beating Woods Cross 43 to 7 today. They play Alta at 2:30 next Friday at University of Utah for the quarter finals. If they win that they play for the State championship. No matter what they have been fun to watch and roll with them.

I have it on good authority, you are going to be nominated for the open seat on the Supreme Court. (Well, if there was any justice in this world, you should be!!)
