Jan, I think you make a good fit for this. I will let Donny know this the next time I visit with him at the white house.

You could use a cleaver instead of a gavel. You could cut out all the bull. Judge Jan has a ring to it.

While it's really sad that SHS didn't win the championship against East, they played well and tried hard. Plus, they made it to the finals!!!! #shs  #reddevils

As some might know, to play sports in our area you must live in the school boundaries with a legal guardian. First hand knowledge. At East, you can live anywhere but attend school at East. East coach said if he has to go the other way he will quit coaching. They recruit players from all over. It has been a controversy in the past. Thus. Springville played a Jr college or equivalent in this championship game. The schools were not on equal grounds. Thus Springville did and had a super season.

Yep, you could tell they didn't need to take all the cheap shots to win. I hate a coach like that,  Springville did great.

I'm going to sound like Donald Trump here, but the Utah State High School Activities Association rules regarding transfers are rigged! Here is a list of the things you're not supposed to be able to do in transferring to a new school:

PLEASE BE ADVISED that UHSAA appellate panels have determined that the following conditions are NOT considered hardships:

  • Athletic motivation
  • Driving distance
  • Proximity to school
  • Gas prices
  • Playing time or other coaching decisions
  • Small or large class sizes
  • Allegations of better education
  • Less than a full family move
  • Sadness or anxiety

First thing on the list is Athletic motivation, but try and tell me those players at East didn't get recruited to come there and did so because of some perceived hardship. What they really wanted was a football championship and the coaches found a way around the rules.

WE ARE PROUD RED DEVILS AND WE PLAY BY THE RULES! WAY TO GO TEAM!!!

Every starting player on East has a scholarship offer. Not normal. Springville nothing till just reciently. Proud my adopted grandson finally got two offers. Weber st and Snow. He came to Springville last year from Alaska with family in Springville. My son took him in, was required to have legal guardianship of him before Springville would let him play. Great kid, love him so much and proud as can be for him

Ken Strong informed us that Kathryn Rogers (Carter) has passed away. She hasn't ever connected with us on this website, but as a member of our class we want to express our sadness at her passing and wish her family heartfelt condolences.

Kathryn June Rogers Carter passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016 at Mountain View Hospital. Kathy was born on June 3, 1951 to Betty June Kappas and Ben Leavitt Rogers. She was raised in Mapleton, UT and graduated from Springville High School. She enjoyed her time working as a nanny, especially in Kissimmee, FL where she was able to care for Andy, who was very special to her. She was sealed to Larry Gene Carter in the Provo Utah Temple and was later divorced. She was a thoughtful and caring person and loved her family and friends very much. She cherished her 22 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is survived by her siblings: Barbara Gant, Carol (Merrill) Dunn, Dave (Sarah) Rogers, Russell (Janet) Rogers, Clark Rogers, Michael (Vickie) Rogers, and Jay Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Teresa Rogers. A simple funeral service will be held at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville, UT on Friday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.

I am so sorry to hear about Kathryn! She was always such a sweet person. It's sad when you lose contact with some people! We would go to her house after school when we were in grade school, since her backyard met up with the school yard!!!  Congratulation's to Paul and Kathy Wheeler on their new mission call. Moscow might be a little cold!!! Is anyone ready for Christmas? Dave has his outfit that I'm jealous about!! You need to post your picture on the website Dave!!!

I have been one lucky person to have the job I have working with the Division on different things. It is super to see how things work and be able to change some of the laws and regulations in both hunting and fishing.
Reciently I ran accross Doug Cloward who is fighting to make Scofield a much improved fishing lake. I listened to his wisdom as he talked with the Fish and game for improvement. Now because of Doug's work he will be on a committee that will redo Scofield reservoir to a much friendlier family oriented place to fish and have success.

That's fantastic! You guys are a perfect example of how to make changes in the world by rolling up your sleeves and going to work on it! Congratulations to both of you!

So I was in a meeting with 2 of my sons and an employee with about 20 architects and designers, discussing some issues with future and past buildings. After the meeting my son thanked me for being there and told me I was super helpful. I responded thanks for making me feel useful. He said that I made it seem more official. I then realized I was the oldest person in that room. He said, no there was that one guy. I said if he had been older they would have retired him. Boy, it's been a fun ride, this life.
