Proud great grandparents, the little girl is Regan and the little boy is Graham. It's great to be grand parent (20 times), even greater to be greats ( will be 7 by the middle of July) wow who would ever guessed!

Getting old is a gift, somtimes I forget. What more can a guy possibly want. If we don't make time for our friends, we won't have any.

Sorry I can't be there, I love Art City Days.

Hi All,

Traveling to SUU and back to SLC for work tomorrow.  I can't pass up the opportunity to see Marv and Coke  (and of course everyone else).  I fully plan on attending.  I could arrive a bit late.  Please don't hold up dinner on my account.  I had a great time at the last outing.  Laughed all the way back to SLC.

Clint

Joseph Darrell Haws
August 13, 1951 ~ June 12, 2021 (age 69)

Obituary & ServicesTribute Wall
Obituary
Joseph Darrell Haws was born August 13, 1951 to Darrell R Haws and Clarice Mitchell Haws in Provo, Utah. Following his father’s tragic passing in 1969 Clarice married Eugene W Lloyd, affectionately known as Geno. Dad left behind his battle with cancer to be embraced in the arms of the Savior, surrounded by his family on June 12, 2021.

Joe married Kristine Hurst on November 10, 1976 and together raised 6 “Hawsome” children. He later married Catherine Goodrich on February 14, 2006. He openly welcomed stepson, Isaac Goodrich as well as our sister, Jordan Pruitt. In 2017 Joe was able to meet daughter, Michelle Huff, and more recently son, Phillip Stahle.

Dad was the “Joe” of all trades and had a firm work ethic. He had many talents and hobbies including carpentry and woodworking, jewelry making, hunting, baking, sewing blankets, vermicomposting for his indoor farming and collecting antiques. Joe is known for his gifting of $2 bills, chili, pies, juices, ghost pepper jelly, and growing hot peppers.

Joe was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He proudly worked in the Provo Tabernacle, now Provo City Center Temple and the St. George, UT Temple. He recently celebrated 16 years of sobriety and actively served as a missionary conducting the LDS Addiction Recovery Program.

Dad will be greatly missed by his children: Brenda (Lance) Atwood, Joe (Amy) Haws, Jill (Ryan) Watts, Diana (Riley) Bevell, Kelli Haws, Eric Haws, Michelle (Matt) Huff, Phil (Heather) Stahle, stepson Isaac Goodrich, our sister Jordan Pruitt, along with 28 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren with another on the way. His siblings: Susan Haws, Sylvia (Larry) Walters, Mitch (Lindy) Haws, Shirley Peterson, Tim (Lisa) Lloyd, Ron (Elvonna) Lloyd and our Grandpa Gene Lloyd.

Dad was welcomed home by his parents, Darrell and Clarice, brother Johnny Alonzo, Catherine, and grandparents, Joseph and Theora Haws & Gordon and Katie Mitchell, whom he adored.

A viewing will be held Thursday June 17, 2021 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary from 6-8 pm. The funeral services will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Hillcrest 8th Ward LDS Chapel, located at 1035 South 800 East in Orem, Utah. A viewing to be held 9:30-10:30 am prior to services. Interment will be held in the Orem City Cemetery.

A Special Thank You to all who knew and loved Dad, including Steve Tolman, Win Broadhurst, Terry & Sherri Hafen, Jim & Ronda Griffin, Mike & Shelly Perkins and all of the service missionaries who blessed Dad’s life, Dr. Denys, Dr. Clark, Dr. Rich, the Residents and 6th Floor Nursing Team at Utah Valley Hospital and CNS Hospice Services

Sorry to hear about Joe. It is aways sad when another member of the class of '69 bites the dust. Eventually, we all will. So, it is important that we live every day like it is our last, because one day it will be.

Coke and I had a great time in River City while we were there. It was so good to see all of you that made it to the Strap Tank for dinner, I wish more could have made it.

Although Coke and I had a good time, the sun and heat were a little outside our comfort zone. It was good to get back home - it was 64 degrees with intermittent rain showers. The weather has made my tomato plants go crazy.

I hope all of you have a fantastic summer (that means no fires).

I will be in Utah Aug 13th for my grand daughters wedding, I was hoping we could plan a get together at the Strap Tank again.. I love that place and I would love to see who ever could come.  I'll keep in touch and try and get on the site more often. I love this site! Hi Everyone,

Very sorry about Joe. Had the occasion to see Joe a few times after high school with the Wright bothers ( I'm old but not the aviators, Grey and John). Good guy. Told him he was to scary to me in Junior High.  He laughed and we had a good time.  Thank you Doug for dinner!  Kate paid for me the first time.  I owe everyone.  Trying to figure the tip, the waitress said if you're as fun as the guy who paid the bill you're a fun group. Good representation for class 69 Doug!  I had a blast. Hope to see everyone sooner than later. Peace out is my saying as I make my leave. Probably sounds a little corny but that's me. Everyone take care. Very glad COVID on the downside and hope we link up again sometime soon.

Clint

Cancer sucks! I just saw this post on FaceBook. Another one of our classmates gone way too early.

Doug Cloward

This is Doug Cloward's eldest child Krysti Pignolet.

It is with deepest sadness and a heavy heart I post to let you know that at 6:15 pm Monday June 21st Doug lost his 15 year battle with cancer. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Payson Utah.

Eight days ago Dad dictated a post for me to share with his friends and family as follows...

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for your many kindnesses and prayers gifts and food.

I think of you each and every day grateful for the shared experiences of our lives. Im now in the fight of my life where every waking moment and sleeping moment is a struggle just to breathe, talk or to stand totally exhausts me.

I have roughly 2 weeks to survive the chemo and get to the point with Car-Tcell therapy. If I can make it that far, there is hope that i might survive and return to our conversation and company.

Again, my love and gratitude-

Doug Cloward.

Viewing held at Walker Funeral Home 587 South 100 West Payson Utah 84651 on Friday June 25th from 6-8 PM.

Life Celebration held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

711 Peteetneet Blvd Payson, UT 84651

There will also be a zoom link posted for the funeral service.

If you have any question feel free to message or text Dougs FB or Phone as I will be responding to both.

I had been communicating with Doug as of late. Doug was interested in making fishing better in the state. He wanted one more time to fish with his grandkids. Doug would always say tell the class of 69 hello for me.
Doug was remarkable in what he accomplished in life from starting the trecs for the church programs to a mission in Kentucky and to in Africa. He worked at the startup of Young Living to several other companies and had his own company in Heritage Makers. He was Though I was just getting to know him because of fishing his desires were to make fishing better. The class lost a remarkable dreamer who made things happen

It makes my heart hurt to learn of Doug's passing. He was truly a genius that didn't wear it on the outside. He was a friend from the inside out and from the outside in. God rest his soul. heart

There's a very interesting article referring to Doug Cloward's role in starting the LDS Pioneer Trek program. He was a pretty amazing guy! Here's a link https://byustudies.byu.edu/article/handcart-trekking-from-commemorative-reenactment-to-modern-phenomenon/

My actual birthday is on Thursday, the 22nd. I was wondering if any of you would like to join me at La Casita that evening at 6 pm where we could drown our sorrows together? Let me know if you can come and I'll try to reserve us some space.
