I saw the story on the kids fishing on TV but never saw you. Get in front of the camera Ken. You that don't want to golf on those days ought to at least come eat with us.

I will be in Springville a few days next week and on June 1st I would like to have a kick-off meeting for the Class of '69 50th reunion. It would be nice to meet at restaurant, but being a Friday that may be a little difficult (depending on the time of day).

It has been awhile since I have been in the area and I am sure things have changed since my last visit. Does anyone have a suggestion for a suitable venue? I assume that most people would prefer to meet later in the afternoon.

This is a plea for help and I would appreciate any constructive input.

Marvin,

I was going to round up some of the usual subjects to meet on the first, but got waylaid by some other pressing business. Sorry! Here's my suggestion: Instead of meeting at a restaurant on Friday the 2nd. Why don't we pick a nice, shady place like the grounds around the City Center. People could grab a sandwich from Subway, or there are usually food trucks across the street at the library on Friday nights. Everybody can bring a lawn chair to sit on (there are benches along the paths at the City Center, too.) Bring whatever you'd like to drink and we can form a circle where we can hear each other and knock around some ideas. Let's make it casual and meet at about 6 since some of us are still workaholics. What do you think? I'll still make some phone calls.

Daryl,

That sounds like a good idea to me - casual is good. See you in a week.

Thanks for your help on this.

Sounds like a good plan guys!! I have me a new scooter!! I went to the Social Security Office to drop off some papers. I left pissed off because I hate that place because you all know we aren't that old. So I was in a hurry as usual! I started through the intersection and the light changed, a big truck was speeding towards me, so I decided I needed to run! My mind said go but my feet aren't as fast anymore so My foot popped! Yep, it's broke so that is why I have a new Knee Scooter!  Has anyone else had any stupid accident's lately??????

Not an actsdent, but I spent four months on a knee schooler. Had foot surgery last November. It's not so fun. And I get to ride it again this October when I get the other foot fixed.

So Shauna, is the knee board attached to your scooter?

Last week I was popping the clutch on a friends motor cycle (because the battery was dead) down a hill, the wheel locked up but didn't start. So the cycle stopped and I didn't. It was a steep hill so I slid down the road on my face with the bike back behind me. Is this the year of lost cordination?

I can't wait to see you on your scooter.

Gee, Dave! Looks like you did a face plant in the hardware section at Home Depot! You might want to stay away from microwave ovens.

For Ken and anyone else who might be coming late, or in case the weather turns bad tomorrow. We will move the meeting into the basement of the old Carnegie Library across the street from the city building if necessary, so don't give up and go home if you don't see us at the park. Remember the old library? It's now the DUP Museum and office for the Springville Historical Society. See you at one place or the other at 6 tomorrow night!

Happy Birthday Lynette Larsen Magliocco!

As for Shauna's question, last fall I got to be an extra in a movie they were filming at This is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake. The movie is "In Emma's Footsteps" and has been released in the Larry Miller Cineplex theaters. I'm a "bad guy" in some tavern scenes where mobbers have gathered to plan some evil deeds to perpetrate on the Mormons. I'm also in a couple of street scenes if they didn't get edited out. I haven't even seen it, yet, but I hear the movie is pretty well done. The guy who plays Joseph Smith in the movie is working with us on some of our projects at the Rivoli.

I saw the movie Daryl but didn't see you. Unless it was the guy with his face on the bar.

Just for you, Dave. Here is a shot of the screen my daughter took during the movie. I'm sitting on the right side of the back table. There were a couple of other scenes, but they showed me from the back, so you wouldn't have recognized me. I did get my name in the credits, though.

I'm sad to report that we have received word of two more members of our class who have passed away.

Vicki Vincent, who has been living and teaching high school in Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on the 19th and Shirl Peterson, who has lived in Kona, Hawaii for many years passed away this past Monday.

I don't have many details to share regarding Vicki, but according to Shirl's sister-in-law, he has been dealing with respiratory problems for a while and the recent volcanic activity near his home made things more difficult for him, eventually leading to severe pneumonia and ultimately his death.

This brings the total number of our class to have passed to 41. We send our deepest condolences to the members of these two families.

More sad news, Daryl.  Thank you for keeping us informed. My deepest condolences to these families.

For the  rest of us ... the beat goes on.  With each day that we make it through, hopefully our minds are gaining wisdom and knowledge ...even through the aches and pains that our bodies feel.  Caution!, don't put yourself next to a youngster if you want to feel technically smart.... that's not a good feeling (unless you're Mart Gardner :) )!!
