Layla!

Happy Birthday Debbie! Sorry I was a day late. Hope you had a good  one. Derek and the Dominoes aka Eric Clapton - Definitely one of the all-time best songs ever! It came out in 1970 or I would have had it at the top of my list.

Mart E. (Gardner)

Hi, you all

This is Mart Gardner, I have been reading your posts for the last few days and just wanted to say hi.  I would like to make some of the class events, but my summers are full and I have not been able to work it in. Has anyone talked about doing something during the school year?

11/01/13 11:56 AM #2441

UTawna Johnson (Witney)

I like that idea Mart. It's great to 'see' you. Where are you at now?

Mart E. (Gardner)

Today I live in Lindon, just North of Orem. My work has been with the State of Utah for the past 15 years and before that I spent some time with the start up companys of WordPerfect and Novell.

I'm sitting in an office today just behind the State Capital here is a photo out the window.

I'm just a home boy, I love Utah to much to leave.

Mart,    Good to hear from you.   I see you now and again at Strawberry.   I think that keeps you busy getting people that are in trouble off the lake.   We are going to have our 45 year reunion this June and I do hope that you come to it.  Hope that all is well with the class mates and things are going good.

Charles (Chuck) Gividen

Hey Ken,  do we have a date in June 2014, for the class reunion?

11/04/13 11:52 AM #2445

Daryl Tucker

Hey, Chuck, and everyone else who's wondering about the schedule for next year's 45-year class reunion: The reunion will be on the second weekend in June with a bus decorating party on Friday night, the 13th and then we'll all ride in the bus in the Art City Days Parade on Saturday morning, the 14th, and then we'll have a dinner and program that evening.

Kate sent out an email blast with more details, but it may have missed some of you, so maybe we can post it, again, here. Please get the word around to all the classmates you know!

11/04/13 03:41 PM #2446

Kenneth Strong

and for those who did not get the email blast from Kate me your email address may be wrong that we have so please update all information possible.

Kate Robertson (Schoening)

Hi Everyone - Below is the email blast that I sent to everyone that had signed up for the site.  As noted in the email, please update your information on this site and tell everyone about the reunion and this site......we need to get everyone involved!  Happy Fall everyone!

Hello Classmates and Friends!

It's been a while and I hope this finds all of you happy and healthy!  This may end up a long email, but please read to the end - it contains lots of important information.

It's that time again....yes, the next class reunion will notch another 5 years in our belts.  I don't like to think of us getting older, just a little bit better and wiser.  Our class reunions have always been a fun time to gather and catch up on our lives, but the next one is going to be EPIC!  45 years since we walked across that stage and said good-bye to the 'ole Red and Blue.  WHAT!  45 years!!  We've lost many classmates in the last 5 years and so let's all spread the word and get everyone to participate in the Class of 1969 45th Reunion.  Below are the important dates to mark on your calendar and start making plans to attend:

Friday, June 13 - Afternoon/evening of frivolity and creativity (see notes below)

Saturday, June 14 - Morning - Art City Days Parade - we are going to "rock" that town!

Saturday, June 14 - Evening dinner and celebration of the class of 1969!

I'm serious everyone, you won't want to miss out on any of this - they are going to be talking about the Class of 1969 for a very long time.  Be part of this moment in time and make Springville history!!

If you haven't been keeping in touch via the class websites message forum, now is the time to start and tell everyone you know from our class to get on and participate.  It's also important for everyone to check your profile and make sure your physical address and email address is updated.  Take time to do this today - our goal is to reach everyone and this website is the best way to accomplish that goal, it's safe and secure and we can keep you informed of what is going on with the class and the upcoming reunion - TELL EVERYONE!

So, here are some details of the events we're planning for the reunion - remember, I said "EPIC"

David Lynn is the Chairperson for the 2014 reunion - he was conveniently given this opportunity by Eric Bird when he had stepped out of the room at our last reunion and could not respond in time to turn the job down........however, he has taken his responsibility to great lengths and is compelled to make this "one for the record books."  If you have heard the rumors , it's all true......he bought a bus, a genuine, bonofide school bus, just for this event.  He wants to make this a full on class participation project and let Springville know that 1969 was and continues to be the best class to graduate Springville High School.

Friday - We are all going to get together and paint the bus, yes, you heard right.....paint the bus.  Linda Schardine has started some great designs that really showcase the era in which we lived and played.  However, we are not limited....it's a big bus with lots of room.  You won't want to miss this night - come dressed to get dirty and laugh till you cry.  There will be food and more fun than you can stand!

Saturday - We'll take the bus to the street for the Art City Days Parade - plan to ride in the bus, there's plenty of room.  No other class will be able to touch our creativity - ever!

Saturday Night - We'll have a nice celebratory dinner to reminisce and catch up.

Of course.....more details will follow as we get everything confirmed and planned.  David welcomes anyone that wants to be part of the committee or any ideas you may have to get everyone involved.  SAVE THESE DATES and start making your plans to attend.  Watch the message forum on the class website for information and email David or myself through the class website with questions or ideas.

I can't wait!  Rock On - Class of '69!

Good to see new people joining in. By June we'll have 24 people coming to the reunion.

Glad you are so close Mart. We'll let you know when we are doing something. Keep your comments coming.

Thanks Kate for re-posting the super event.

See you there Chuck.

Marvin, I saw "Enders Game" and thought of how we can cause our own destruction. There was a documentary years ago about insects and how they survive all climate changes, bombs, insecticides etc. and they they survive because "where there is no intelligence, there is no stupidity." And another saying about an exploding planet that  must have had intelligent life to blow itself up. I saw the piece on the Russians bomb that was 10 times that of the Japan one. ( Notice how I avoided spelling Heroshema?)  Please keep us posted of our destruction.

I went to see Last Vegas on Sunday! I laughed through the whole thing! OK we don't have that wrotten of mouths, but the meaning of show came through! If you can't handle swearing don't go. My kids thought it reminded them of me and my friends! It is great to still have friendships after all these years, great to tease and laugh and just simply love our friends. What i have found with our class is that it doesn't matter if we are male or female we can all care about each other the same. Sometimes I wonder is our spouses get it???Love you 69er's!!!! Watch the show and then which character you think acts like someone in our class! Post the name if you dare!!!  I think I'm Kevin Kline!!!

Dave,

You are such a pessimist.

We had about 239 people in our graduating class. Of those, at least 26 are no longer with us. That leaves 212 69er's that are still around. Of those, 116 have actually created profiles on the website.

So, if I take the number of those that are still around and subtract the number that have created profiles, divide that number by the number of years since we graduated, take the square root and divide by two. I think we will have at least 30 people show up for the reunion.

You’re all looking at it wrong. Here is the Optimist way of looking at it. The day will come with there is only one who can make it. That day is a long way off. For now we have a possibility of 212 that can make it.

Looking good, Mart! Just out of curiosity, what does a Coast Guard Commander do in the middle of the desert?

11/06/13 06:16 PM #2453

David Lynn

Lake Bonneville Coast Guard.

Ok, I like the 212. We need help getting those coming or posting. Are we doing better Mr. Management?

I'm going to count your 30 Marvin. And add the 27 past classmates. We are going to add their names on the bus.

Seats are being reserved .

I think the easiest way to tell you is, check out our website, http://division7.d11nr.info/

To sum it up, the USCG is tasked by Congress to patrol all boating water in the US. All States have some form of the USCG. To do this there are three teams, they are the regular or full time paid members USCG; the reserve USCGR like any other reserve units; and us the Auxiliary USCGAux (volunteers).

In Utah, it is all USCGAux as we have no paid support unless we call in a helo lift or something. As the Admiral said “In Utah the Auxiliry is the Coast Guard and fully support as such”

I hope this is not too much.

David, are we including spouses or is this just class mates. As I’m somewhat new at this I don’t know.

Spouses are welcome, especially at the dinner Sat. night. The bus decorating, you are welcome to bring them if they want to socialize and you dare have her meet us. Jill and Jan are going to make us some treats they have on facebook. Some will, some won't, we'll know more later. The Float will be in the parade and most likely just be class members unless they can twirl batons.

You are the seat 2 and 3. Unless you don't want to sit next to me ( I'm the driver according to the insurance company). You can choose your seat, you might want to be in the middle or on the hood.
