Cathy Parkin (Deveraux)

Cathy Parkin (Deveraux)

Cathy Parkin Deveraux passed away on November 29, 2021 from heart failure.

Cathy was born July 13, 1951, in Murray, Utah to Ernest and Naomi Parkin. She was the youngest of seven children, and while the older ones became teenagers and adults, her and the younger ones would roam the streets of Mapleton and Springville playing with friends and loved the life they had with their mother. Cathy graduated from Springville High School and went to work in Hawaii for a summer then returned to Mapleton where she started her life as an adult. She successfully raised two sons while working full time and getting her education which led her to a career of service to the public that she loved. Cathy loved Mapleton and the house she grew up in so much that when her mother passed away, she purchased the house so that she could raise her family there. She was completely content in that little 2-bedroom home, raising her two sons and she lived there for her entire life until she moved to South Jordan three years ago to be closer to her eldest son. There never was a happier, grateful, content, more blessed person than Cathy Parkin Deveraux.

Cathy is survived by her children, Elisha Deveraux Baker, John (Kylee) Deveraux, Jason (Clint) Deveraux, 10 precious grandchildren that meant the world to her Ben, Alyssen, Micah, Sage, Jordan, Canyon, Kendra, Jacob, Graydee, Emmalee and Caleb, great grandchild Olyver, sister, Maurine Canto, and sister-in-law Jolene Walker. Cathy left behind so many nieces, nephews, and cousins, many who were more like siblings or children, or grandchildren even if they were once or twice removed, and of course the many, many friends that she considered her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Billy, Johnny, Keith, and Ernie as well as her sister Carol. Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts that nothing will ever fill.

Cathy was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though she fought hard to be here for her family during all her health struggles in recent years, we know she is glad to be back to the loving arms of her Savior, her mother, sister, brothers, and so many of her family and friends.

There will be a viewing at the LDS church located at 1580 N. Main, Mapleton, Utah 84664 on Saturday, December 4th at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at noon and interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Springville UT.
